The Life Drawing Masterclass is suitable for participants with some experience to extend and develop their skills in drawing, working directly from a life model. Explore observational techniques and new approaches to life drawing, with individual tuition from our expert artist tutor, Catherine MacDiarmid.
As a masterclass, participants will be challenged to explore their skills and techniques beyond the basic teachings of the life drawing course.
What do I need to bring with me?
Drawing boards and easels will be provided. Please bring your own drawing materials, the following is a guide:
- paper (A3/2 sketch book)
- willow charcoal
- putty rubber
- soft graphite stick or pencil
- masking tape or clips to attach your paper to a board.

When using art materials your clothes could potentially get dirty so you may wish to bring an apron and/or dress for mess.
About the tutor
Catherine MacDiarmid is a local artist who has exhibited widely, including exhibiting in the BP Portrait award for young artists in 2001/2. She is an elected member of The Lakes Artists Society and appeared in Sky Portrait Artists of the Year 2014, 2018 reaching the semi-finals in 2019. As well as completing private portrait commissions her work is collected internationally, and works from her home-based studio in Kendal. Her artwork focuses on the human form, exploring expression and movement in both drawing & painting.
