Introduction to Stained Glass is designed to teach all the basic skills in order to make a small stained glass panel.
What will the class cover and how will it be taught?
You will be shown how to cut glass and will spend a while practicing before choosing your own design (provided) and cutting out the design using the coloured glass provided. You will then be shown how to join your pieces together using lead. You will then solder all the lead joints to finish your panel.
In this hands-on workshop, you’ll begin by learning how to cut glass safely and accurately. Once confident, you’ll develop your own design using the coloured glass provided and assemble your panel using traditional lead techniques, before soldering all the joints to complete your unique stained glass artwork.
Who is it suitable for?
This workshop is perfect for beginners and those looking to explore a new creative skill.
What do I need to bring?
All tools and materials are provided, so students don’t need to bring anything.
Are there any additional costs?
The cost of the materials is £15, payable to the tutor on the day, cash preferred or BACS.

This course will be held in Studio 2.
About the tutor
Sarah Walkley trained at Vetrate Artistiche Toscana in Siena between 1994-1995. She had a stained glass studio in London for several years before setting up business in Kendal and developing a specialist fused glass range named Sarah Bibet Fused Glass, which she now sells online and to local shops. Overall, Sarah has been teaching her skills to classes for 30 years.
