About the tutor
Danny Clahane. During his studies at Canterbury College of Art, Danny began carving stone and developed a deep interest in sculpture. During this time, he worked as an assistant to sculptor Stephen Cox, helping to carve large granite pieces destined for Broadgate, Liverpool Street in London.
While completing his MA at Wimbledon School of Art, Danny also worked for sculptor Glynn Williams at the Royal College of Art, continuing to assist Stephen Cox on a range of projects. It was during this period that he completed his first public commission for Morden Library.
After completing his MA, Danny remained in London, working as an assistant to both Stephen Cox and Glynn Williams while developing his own studio practice. He also produced several commissions, including sculptures of St Anthony and St Paul for a new church in Harringay, London.
Now based at his studio at Halecat in Witherslack, Cumbria, Danny continues to create primarily stone-based work for exhibitions and private clients. He has completed numerous public art projects in cities such as Bristol, Birmingham, and Newcastle, as well as many public and private commissions closer to home in Lancaster, Keswick, Ambleside, and throughout Kendal.
