October Highlights

Our Autumn Season is in full swing, and we have a packed October programme bringing live music, comedy, cinema, festivals and plenty more.

On stage, The Long Ryders, Toploader, Albert Lee, Shooglenifty, Chaps Choir & The Growing Singers, Live/Wire: The AC/DC Show, Martin Simpson, Peatbog Faeries, Republica, TRIP, and El Pony Pisador bring everything from rock and folk to country, traditional music and soaring harmonies.

Elsewhere, Vittorio Angelone, Jason Byrne and our ever-popular Comedy Club bring the laughs, while the Lakes International Comic Arts Festival returns alongside the Paddling Film Festival and Nick Cope’s Family Show. Plus, to celebrate World Poetry Day, Poetry Club is back with a Slambria Poetry Slam!

Over in the Cinema, Cine-Macabre takes over October with cult horror, supernatural chills and Halloween favourites, alongside Beyond Horizons, Rip It Up and world-class Stage on Screen productions. Plus, discover more through Creative Learning, Exhibitions and Brewery Social events.

Live Music

The Long Ryders

The Long Ryders, pioneers of alt-country, return with the same fiery spirit that made them legends. Fusing punk energy with country-rock harmonies, they deliver shows full of history, heart and unrelenting energy. Saddle up – don’t miss the ride.

Toploader

Iconic British band Toploader kick off their tour fresh from a UK-wide arena run supporting James Blunt. Fans can expect to hear hits from their triple platinum, Brit-nominated album Onka’s Big Moka, alongside exciting new tracks from their upcoming EP.

Albert Lee

Grammy-winning guitarist Albert Lee, one of the most respected musicians in the country-rock music scene, will be joined on stage this year by his young UK band, with Ali Petrie on Keys, Iain Petrie on Bass and Tim Hillsdon on drums.

Norrie MacIver

Two-time Gaelic Singer of the Year Norrie Norrie MacIver is one of Gaelic music’s most distinctive voices. Formerly the lead singer of Skipinnish, he brings powerful vocals, melodic songwriting and deep Hebridean roots to the stage.

Shooglenifty

For over 35 years, Shooglenifty have been pushing musical boundaries with their infectious ‘acid croft’ blend of Scottish folk, beats and rock. Celebrating their tenth album, Stamina Island, they’re as exhilarating live as ever.

Chaps Choir & The Growing Singers

17 October | 7pm | Tickets £20.50 | Theatre

Two wonderful choirs will have you laughing one minute and possibly shedding a tear of joy the next, all wrapped up with glorious harmonies and acapella singing that will soothe your soul!

Live/Wire: The AC/DC Show

Martin Simpson: Some Kind Of Jubilee Tour

Legendary guitarist and songwriter Martin Simpson celebrates 50 years since his debut with his new album Some Kind of Jubilee, which he describes as “my best work to date.”

Peatbog Faeries

Hailing from the Isle of Skye, the legendary Scottish trailblazers have created a glorious mixture of traditional sounds and dance-floor grooves that have been embraced worldwide.

Republica

Republica stormed the charts in the 1990s with fiery frontwoman Saffron and their distinctive ‘techno-pop punk’ sound. Pioneers of the Britpop wave of female-fronted rock.

TRIP

TRIP features 6 young musicians at the forefront of Glasgow’s traditional music scene. Their trademark sound is dynamic, driven and distinctive and celebrates the band’s roots in tradition, whilst showcasing a contemporary, cross-genre flare.

El Pony Pisador

Cinema

Embrace the darker side of cinema this October with Cine-Macabre, bringing cult horror, supernatural chills and Halloween favourites. Highlights include The Omen (7 October), Dog Soldiers (14 October), Zombie Flesh Eaters (22 October), Pulse (28 October), family friendly Hocus Pocus and Frightful Family Crafts (24 October), a Creepshow and Trick ‘r’ Treat double bill (30 October), and John Carpenter’s Halloween (31 October).

Creative Learning

Gather your ghouls and witches for Frightful Family Crafts (24 October), a spook-tacular afternoon of creepy creations, fang-tastic decorations and Halloween fun for all the family. Dress up if you dare and get creative together in our studios.

Throughout the month, our regular youth courses continue to welcome young creatives. Art Explorers offers home-educated young people the chance to experiment with mixed-media art in a sociable setting, while Brewery Youth Film Crew gives budding filmmakers the opportunity to develop skills both in front of and behind the camera.

Adults can try something new too, with one-off workshops including Introduction to Stained Glass (10 October) and Lampshade Upholstery with Cable and Blake (24 October) – perfect for learning a new skill, creating something for your home or making a unique handmade gift.

Settle into autumn with us and enjoy the best of local food and drink. Our Bar & Restaurant serves seasonal dishes made with locally sourced ingredients, alongside rotating seasonal specials, Lake District craft beers, handpicked wines and plenty of plant-based and gluten-free options.
