9 September – Testing 1, 2, 3!!

Our September Poetry Club welcomes 3 amazing guests!

Ann the Poet will take the stage for ten minutes with her take on bears and dogs, whilst Francis Prendiville, a crowd favourite at Verbalise, brings his stories alive with poetry and theatre. Simon Sylvester, known for his writing, poetry, and storytelling, will share traditional tales about wild women, careless kings, lost boats, fox furs, winding roads, mysterious creatures from the woods, and a very good dog.

Want to join in? We have four open-mic spots available. Come along, share your work, and inspire others.

Please email annthepoet@gmail.com to book your open mic spot of up to 4 mins, including introductions.

28 October – Slambria ft Rema Grace Gifford

Could you be the next Slambria Champion? Come and contend for this year’s title!

Performers will have 3 minutes on the mic to impress with their original words and engaging performances. Round 2 features the 4 performers with the highest scores from Round 1. Lastly, Round 3 will be the highest scoring 2 performers from Round 2.

There are 7 spots available (on a first-come, first-served basis), so bring your friends to cheer you on. All work must be original and written on this year’s National Poetry Day theme of Wonder.

Last year, Rema Grace Gifford won our inaugural Slambria Poetry Slam with a fantastic beat poem about a nightclubbing slug! Her prize was to come back as a featured poet, and she’s not one to miss!

Entries must be submitted by 1 September to secure your spot. The overall winner will receive the slam trophy and a paid spot at Verbalise in 2027.

To take part and to book your open mic spot, please email Ann Grant at annthepoet@gmail.com

Please note: To respect the privacy of all attendees, photography is not permitted at these events unless prior permission has been granted.
