Summer is in full swing at Brewery Arts, with a packed programme for July!
Make the most of summer at Brewery Arts this July, with a lively programme of music, theatre, cinema, creativity and great food and drink.
On stage, The Spooky Men’s Chorale bring thunderous harmonies and brilliantly deadpan humour to Kendal, while Pink Floyd by Candlelight offers an intimate acoustic celebration of one of music’s most iconic bands. Hue and Cry bring their unmistakable blend of pop, soul and jazz, and Verbalise welcomes award-winning poet Jake Wild Hall for a night of spoken word and open mic performances.
Theatre fans can look forward to Kirkbie Kendal’s colourful production of Shrek The Musical, while our Cinema programme spans cult favourites, family adventure, big-screen blockbusters and world-class Stage on Screen productions.
Across the month, Creative Learning offers hands-on workshops and youth showcases, while our galleries celebrate local and young artistic talent. Plus, with the Vats back in the Bar, a fresh garden menu, Brewery Social events and Kendal’s largest beer garden ready for summer, July is full of reasons to visit, stay a little longer and soak up the atmosphere.
With a Brewery Arts Membership, you can enjoy discounts and 2-for-1 offers on selected events while supporting our year-round programme of live events, cinema and creative learning.

Cinema
From cult classics and family adventures to epic blockbusters and acclaimed theatre, there’s plenty to discover on our screens this summer. Our Cinema Rewind programme invites audiences to revisit cultural landmarks, from the enduring legacy of Northern Soul in Northern Soul: Still Burning to the festival spirit of Glastonbury The Movie – 30th Anniversary Cut, capturing a time when dancing in a field was, quite sincerely, a radical act.
For big screen mayhem, Minions & Monsters, brings a rambunctious and ridiculous tale of Hollywood chaos, monsters and unlikely heroes, while The Odyssey reimagines the legendary voyage of Odysseus as he battles to return home after the Trojan War.
Our Stage on Screen programme continues to bring acclaimed theatre and opera productions to Kendal, including National Theatre Live’s Les Liaisons Dangereuses, a glittering and dangerous story of power, reputation, seduction and revenge among the super-rich.
Also coming to our July programme, with tickets to be released soon, families can look forward to Disney’s live-action Moana, following Moana and Maui on an unforgettable voyage beyond the reef, while Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow brings epic interstellar action as Kara Zor-El is pulled into a journey of vengeance and justice.
Summer holiday savings are here! From 25 June to 1 September, we are introducing under 14s cinema tickets at a reduced rate to help families enjoy a trip to the cinema for less this summer.

Creative Learning
July brings a range of opportunities to get creative, including a drawing workshop for families, Sketch a Story: Family Memory Illustration, led by local illustrator Sarah Jane Docker on Saturday 4 July. We also invite you to try a new craft with Stained Glass Suncatchers workshop on Saturday 4 July, followed by a Rag Rug Workshop on Tuesday 7 July.
As our Summer Term draws to a close, we’re also delighted to welcome Aimee Williamson, who will be leading workshops with our youth dance classes, as well as bookable sessions for our Mature Movers classes. Inspired by her recent dance work, Pendle Witch, the workshops connect with a piece currently being performed at outdoor cultural festivals this summer.

Exhibitions
In celebration of this year’s Open Exhibition (8 May–26 July) and the fantastic talent on display, we will be hosting a Prize Giving Evening to announce the winners of our People’s Choice Award and Judge’s Choice Award. The People’s Choice Award winner will receive a £100 voucher to spend at local art supplier Youdells, while the Judge’s Choice Award winner will be awarded a solo exhibition in our Foyer Gallery in 2027.
From 31 July to 31 October, we will present our second Young Artists Open Exhibition 2026, celebrating our young creative talent. Last month, our Learning and Engagement Officer for Visual Arts, Helena McGregor, attended Kendal College’s End of Year Show as a guest judge. We are delighted that Jaya Steele, recipient of the Brewery Arts Award, will showcase their work as part of this year’s exhibition.
