About the tutor
Jess Levine works full time as an artist and art tutor since moving to Cumbria last year. within her art practice, there is a sense of different specialisms being connected, and therefore she often works in collage, mixed media, drawing, painting and printmaking.
Particular to geli plate printing, the creative focus is often on using bold strong colour and to push the properties of different textures to add a unique element to the images.
Jess studied fine art but found the academic focus too heavy, so now regularly develops and extends her practice through participating in short adult education courses.
She has a particular interest in leading creative workshops with adults and young people living with mental health issues. To this end, workshops have been run at space2create in Kendal and also Southdown housing wellbeing centres. jess has also run the arts area within crisis open Christmas, giving homeless and vulnerably housed guests the opportunity to make art.
Jess has exhibited widely in the southeast, and most recently as part of green door arts collective in Kendal, and at arthouse gallery in Ulverston. www.instagram.com/jesslevine_art1st
