Meet The Tutors

Jon Randall
Jon Randall is a freelance theatre practitioner and filmmaker based in Kendal. He completed his BA in Theatre Studies and English Literature at Lancaster University in 2009 and has since worked on a diverse range of youth, community and heritage projects for arts organisations, charities, schools and individuals across the North West. Recent projects include working with the Dukes Theatre, Lancaster Arts Partners, LeftCoast, Culture Warrington and Age UK Lancashire as well as individual artists. Jon’s practice has a strong focus upon exploring authentic narratives concerning the unique stories of people and places. He particularly enjoys the creative territory and collaborative nature of interdisciplinary working across multiple art forms in order to tell those stories. www.jonrandall.net

Lauren Davey
Professional actor/ practitioner Lauren Davey graduated with honours in her Drama degree, where she specialised in acting and practical theatre making. As a fully qualified teacher; she works as Lecturer of Acting at Kendal College, where her passion for inspiring young people in theatre is put into practice. Lauren’s recent acting work includes immersive theatrical events, live theatre and short film, and her most recent role was Hermia in the touring production of PurpleCoat’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Ashleigh Duncan BA (Hons)
Ashleigh works as a freelance dance artist, as part of the Brewery Youth Dance Team. At a young age she fell in love with all things dance. This passion led her on to study BA (Hons) Dance, Performance and Teaching at UCLAN. After graduating with a 2:1, Ashleigh started teaching in various different settings including primary schools, high schools, theatre arts schools and dance schools around Lancashire and Cumbria. She then found the Brewery Arts Centre where she now works as a freelancer around the centre itself and in the community; working in schools and dance platform. Ashleigh thoroughly enjoys helping students progress to achieve and create and believes dance offers this to all.
Ashleigh teaches Mature Movers, Baby Dance and is our key school worker.

Helena Morris- Lockwood BA (Hons) PGCE
Helena attended a Performing arts specialist school attaining top grades in Dance, Music and Drama at GCSE and A-Level, she then attended and graduated Cumbria Institute of Arts in 2008 with a first class degree in Performing Arts. Helena took a Secondary Dance PGCE at Exeter University in 2010 after spending 2 months teaching Dance and Singing in Mexico. She taught at St Benedict’s Catholic High School in Whitehaven and has taught at Carlisle youth zone, Limehouse and Sedbergh private schools. She is a practitioner for the Cumbria Udance festivals and, teaches for Stagecoach theatre schools as their early years, singing and deputy dance teacher. Recent  contracts include work for Dancing Recall - dance and dementia, as well as leading sessions for Music Makers, the baby and toddler music group. She is very much looking forward to teaching at the Brewery Arts Centre Dance, Musical theatre and the Adult Choir.

Emily Thomas BA (Hons)
Emily has recently graduated from Leeds Beckett University where she trained in Dance. Previous to this Emily studied Performing Arts at Kendal College and was a member of Ludus Youth Dance Company and Brewery Youth Arts. In recent years Emily has developed her teaching skills by gaining experience in different community settings with a variety of age groups.
Emily will be leading our Saturday Dance classes – Movers and Shakers, 7-11years and Boyz Moves.
