photography Landscape Photo Walks

Mon 21 Sep to Mon 19 Oct (BLOCK 1) Please note Block 2 dates TBC and will be on sale soon | 10am-12.30pm | £60 (5 weeks) | Tutor Eric Pye

A chance to explore some of South Lakeland’s superb scenery at a photographer’s pace. Guided by photographer Eric Pye, each week will be at a different location, some well-known, others a little off the beaten track but always with plenty of photographic opportunities.

What will the course or workshop cover and how will it be taught?

Guided walks through some of the area’s most photographic locations, each with the idea of exploring the area and taking photographs. There will be no fixed curriculum for the walks, but there will be lots of suggestions and tips, with opportunity to ask questions and develop your landscape photography. The emphasis will be on practical, personal learning in an informal, sociable and enjoyable setting. Ideally, you will have at least some knowledge of how your camera works, but that is not essential, and have a desire to develop your skills. All aspects of landscape photography will be on offer during each walk and the exact content will be decided on the day based upon the needs and interests of the participants.

In accordance with government guidelines, please do not attend if you experience any Covid related symptoms. Social distancing will be adhered to during the sessions.

Important Information
Participants will meet at the week’s location venue for a 10am start. Meeting points and walks will be confirmed and available on the Brewery website.

In case of adverse weather conditions, a session may be postponed. Attendees will need to provide phone/email contact details in order for the leader to give advance notice of postponement by the evening of the day before. If you cannot attend a session, please notify Eric as soon as possible No refunds can be given on sessions not attended.

What do I need to bring with me?
Clothing and footwear suitable for Lakeland walking in September, October and November. None of the walks will go onto the high fells, but some uphill will usually be involved. However, our pace will be very gentle, so only a good general level of fitness will be required. Some of the locations can be wet underfoot, so walking boots are recommended. We will be out for two and a half hours, so a drink and a snack might be advisable. Your camera, charged batteries, memory cards with plenty of space on and a tripod if you have one. Please note that the sharing of equipment should be avoided.

About the tutor
Eric is a photographer who likes to combine his love of the outdoors with a desire to produce something creative. He likes to try and convey something about the places in his images and does this with traditional landscape shots as well as more abstract ideas using camera movement and multiple exposures. As well as creating his own images, Eric now puts his years as a school teacher to good use teaching photography to groups, individuals and here at the Brewery. Eric is also a qualified Mountain Leader (Summer) Assessed.
