The Introduction to Black & White Film Photography class teaches participants how to use a film camera and develop their own prints, with tutor guidance at each step of the way. You will learn the functions of a film camera, how to improve your photographic compositions, the printing process, and how to produce your own prints in the Brewery Arts Darkroom.
What will the class cover and how will it be taught?
This is a practical course so you will spend time in the darkroom developing film and printing from negatives. The class will cover how to use an analogue film camera, how to develop black and white film, and how to print contact sheets, test strips and final prints in the darkroom.
Who is it suitable for?
Suitable for beginners and those seeking a refresher course to regain skills in traditional black-and-white photography. The number of places is limited so the tutor can provide individual attention within the small group.
Please note there are no sessions during the week beginning 20 February 2023.
What do I need to bring?
Your own film camera.
Are there any additional costs?
A starter pack including one roll of film and developing paper is included in the course fee. Additional materials can be purchased during the course, your tutor will advise on this.
