An open adult dance class for all abilities. The class will explore moving and connecting with your body. Get moving, feel amazing, and express yourself!

Through working with different Dance Artists/Practitioners, you’ll have the chance to develop technique and learn phrases of movement. There will be adaptations to suit your body and dance experience. Plus opportunities to throw yourself into improvisation and create your own movement in a fun and supportive atmosphere.

What do I need to bring with me?

Please come ready to dance in comfortable clothes that you can move in, long hair should be tied back and jewellery removed. Bring your own water in a bottle.

The sessions will take place in Studio 1. There are no sessions during half term 26-30 October & 16-20 November.

About the tutors

Anna Olejnicki began her professional career working as a dancer and choreographer for fashion shows and commercial events. She started working as a dance tutor before founding Hype Dance Company Limited, a dance education company in Sheffield, in 2004. Her work has taken her across the UK, and overseas, including regular work with Olivier/Tony nominee Jennifer Weber (USA), Renegade Dance Theatre (Germany), and The Royal Ballet School here in UK. She is a festival adjudicator for The British and International Federation of Festivals (BIFF) the Theatre Dance Council International (TDCI) and Miss Dance.

Anna’s classes: Join Anna as she brings Broadway to Brewery with Jazz Dance. Now’s your chance to be as showbiz as you like. No need for anything other than enthusiasm!

Emily Davies is a previous Brewery Youth Dance member, and has been delivering sessions at The Brewery as well as other settings, since gaining her Dance degree in 2016. She enjoys sharing her love of dance with those she teaches. Emily’s style of movement is grounded in contemporary technique, creative dance and connecting with people, be that in the studio or with an audience.

Emily’s classes: Expect a fun and expressive contemporary technique and creative class. Explore moving in a way that feels good to you, enjoying Dance as a way to uplift and enhance wellbeing.

Emily Davies

Lucy Nicholson is a professional dance  artist and Somatic Movement Educator and Certified Movement Analyst.  Her work focusses on bodily awareness, creative practice, embodied communication and movement direction. As well as her freelance practice, Lucy is a member of the University of Lancashire dance research team, contributing to the Choreographies of Care research project. She is passionate about the power of positive and responsive facilitation and the transformative nature of dance & movement in participatory settings.

Lucy’s classes: Inclusive, friendly and fun, using a system called LBMS that supports bodily awareness, finding wholeness and efficiency as well as discovering new ways to move and make.

Lucy Nicholson

Rebecca Stephen-Denby is a freelance Dance Artist and Lecturer with a keen interest in dance for all in community, education and health settings. Since graduating with a first class BA (Hons) in Performance: Dance, Rebecca has worked for Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, Northern Ballet, the Royal Academy of Dance, Southbank Centre, Dance Umbrella.

Rebecca’s classes: Sessions will focus on contemporary dance technique and developing creativity, in a positive and open space.

Paige Douglas graduated from the University of Lancashire with a BA Hons in Dance Performance and Teaching in 2022. She has facilitated both contemporary and creative dance sessions across the North West for a range of ages and has been an assistant artist for LPM Dance’s Neuro Moves programme. This is a weekly session for people living with Parkinson’s and their family/carers. Outside of freelance practice, she is also a facilitator artist at Prism Arts. In this role, she supports theatre artists to explore movement and create movement pieces from their own stories. Paige is passionate about the benefits of dance in supporting wellbeing and her sessions are a caring, supportive place to learn dance technique and explore your own creativity. Her movement style is grounded in contemporary technique, with influence from her somatic practice training at university and ongoing ballet training.

Paige’s classes: Expect technique exercises, improvisation, creative tasks and opportunities to connect with each other in the space throughout the session. Let’s dance together!
