A NEW open adults’ dance class for all abilities. The class will explore moving and connecting with your body.
Working with different dance artists and practitioners, you’ll develop techniques and learn phrases of movement, with options for progressions and regressions to suit your body and dance experience. Plus opportunities to throw yourself into improvisation, and create your own movement in a fun and supportive atmosphere.

Please note there are no sessions during the week beginning 20 February 2023. The following tutors will teach classes on each date:

What do I need to bring with me?
Please come ready to dance in comfortable clothes that you can move in, long hair should be tied back and jewellery removed. Bring your own water in a bottle.

About the tutors
Emily Baxter is a previous member of Brewery Youth Arts and now directs Brewery Youth Theatre. Having graduated from The Guildford School of Acting in 2018, she now enjoys sharing her skills and experience in community theatre and dance sessions. Emily is also a tutor at Kendal College in the Performing Arts department, and as well as this runs her own ad hoc Musical Theatre and Tap workshops in the local area.
Emily’s classes: An upbeat class, looking at technique and strengthening, finishing with a Jazz/Musical Theatre combination.
Emily Davies is a previous Brewery Youth Dance member and has been delivering sessions at Brewery Arts, as well as other settings, since gaining her Dance degree in 2016. She enjoys sharing her love of dance with those she teaches. Emily’s style of movement is grounded in contemporary technique, creative dance and connecting with people, be that in the studio or with an audience.
Emily’s classes: Expect a fun and expressive contemporary technique and creative class. Explore moving in a way that feels good to you, enjoying Dance as a way to uplift and enhance well-being.
Lucy Nicholson is a professional dance and movement artist specialising in bodily awareness, creative practice, facilitation and movement direction. As well as her freelance practice, Lucy is a senior lecturer on the BA Hons Dance course at UCLan. She is passionate about the power of positive and responsive facilitation and the transformative nature of dance & movement in participatory settings.
Louise Gibbons is a Freelance Dance Artist based in the North West and founded her own company, Northbound Dance in 2019. Her work spans; performance, choreography and facilitation and takes her into a variety of settings such as health care, education and communities. Her background is in contemporary dance and Afro-Brazilian dance. Louise is passionate about bringing dance to people who face various barriers to the arts and is a big believer in the positive, societal changes that can arise through engagement with the arts.
Louise’s classes: Expect a workshop in Afro-Brazilian Dance, taking you on a journey through some of Brazil’s traditional dances! Swing with Samba Reggae, feel magnificent dancing Maracatu, learn where the dances come from and a little about their influences.
