Brewery Youth Dance

Opening doors for young people to the arts!

Brewery Youth Dance (BYD) is fun, creative dance using all of the body and lots of imagination!

BYD is unique as it is dance for all ages and abilities, boys and girls, with lots of opportunities to take to the stage and perform (we do make use of our wonderful theatre here!).  BYD helps you to learn and make your own moves with a contemporary style exploring contact, travel, floor work and technique to a variety of music with expressive and exciting choreography.  There are also opportunities to work with visiting professional companies and through our BYA membership scheme to see selected professional Dance for half price!

Regular Classes 

Magic Movers (18 months – 4)

We also have 'moving and grooving, wriggling and giggling' classes for 18 months - six years and their parent/carers who enjoy movement play involving using props, bodies and imagination.

Magic Movers – (4 -6) 
A creative dance session where your child can explore movement and use their imagination to bring dance alive. For 4 – 6 year olds.

BYD (Brewery Youth Dance) (7-11) 
Fun and creative classes, where you and your friends are at the heart of the work you create. Lots of performance opportunities!

Style it out! (7-11) 
A fun and diverse, mixed genre class. A NEW class to try lots of different dance styles such as Street Dance, Bollywood, Jazz, Contemporary, African and many more.

BYD (Brewery Youth Dance) (11-14) 
Exciting and fun classes to develop contemporary dance skills alongside other dance styles, with a focus on creativity and performance.

Musical Theatre (12+) 
A NEW interdisciplinary class for 12 years and up. Fancy becoming a triple threat? Learn 3 art forms - Drama, Dance and Singing in all styles in one class!

Brewery Youth Dance Company 
This class is for 15+ years and looks at the contemporary dance, creative dance, choreography, technique and performance. This class is perfect for dancers looking to widen their knowledge and experience of dance.

Boyz Moves (7-11) 
Boyz Moves is a class dedicated to young men and how they move - all the classes are a time to meet friends, share skills and have fun.

Mature Movers
We are firm believers that anyone and everyone can dance.  We developed our ‘Mature Movers’ class for over 60’s and it is for those who simply enjoy moving to a variety of music. £4 pay as you go!

Please note: regular classes run during school term time only.

Pro class: MASTERCLASS
ProClass is an opportunity for dancers in the area to connect, network and dance together. ProClass is aimed at dancers with a strong level of experience. Students training at degree level or people working with in dance. Professional actors welcome. Classes will be delivered by Josh Hawkins, Director of Hawk Dance Theatre, and various other guest teachers. 13TH SEPT, 4TH OCT,18TH OCT,15TH NOV, 29TH NOV, 6TH DEC.

School Workshops and Provision

We offer bespoke packages for schools which range from a one off workshop, after school club, help with performance work to delivering full dance provision for the whole school. We offer a range of dance styles and we can tailor make a package just for your school.

Special Events & Projects
Brewery Youth Dance delivers special projects, workshops and events throughout the year, so do keep an eye on our website for exciting upcoming opportunities.

Brewery Dance Platform
Schools Dance Platform 20th March - 24th March
Hundreds of young people will take to the stage in what has become one of the regions most celebrated festivals of dance. With 40 schools involved from across South Lakeland and beyond. This is a week of dance not to be missed. We are able to deliver dance within curriculum time for this and are also available for one-off workshops tailor made to suit your needs.

Originate Dance Platform – 14th and 15th July 2017
An inspiring festival celebrating dance talent from across the region. With graduate, youth companies and local dance schools coming together. This two day event brings together dancers of all ages to take workshops from professional companies and perform!

Join us for an event to celebrate dance and the creative talents of people across South Lakeland. Dance Platforms are not competitive and are to share skills and inspire new work
