In this Stained and Fused Glass course, you will earn all the skills you need to make a stunning stained glass window and make beautiful objects out of kiln-formed glass including decorations and 3D objects.

What will the course cover and how will it be taught?
Students will be taught how to cut glass safely, lead their pieces into a panel and solder the joints. They will make a practice panel before embarking on a project of their own choice and will be given advice on how to design a stained glass panel.

Students can learn how to assemble glass using copper foil and how to paint and stain glass, using silver stain and enamels. Students may also learn the art of kiln-formed fused glass and have access to a specialist glass kiln to fire their pieces. They will be offered advice about how to make the best use of colour and how glass changes under heat. Students will be given individual tuition to suit their needs and requirements.

This class is suitable for complete beginners as well as those with experience who wish to improve their skills.

What do I need to bring?

  • Please bring gloves and safety goggles.
  • Boards will be provided to make the practice panel. Following this, students will need to provide their own wooden board to work on, the size of which will be determined by the dimensions of the stained glass design but the tutor will advise on this.
  • All other tools will be provided and the materials to complete a practice panel.
  • Students need to wear closed shoes, no sandals please.
