Reupholstery Summer School

You’ll learn the basics of how to upholster a footstool, modern dining or drop-in chair on this 3 day summer school. This course will following the basics traditional or modern upholstery methods, this will include the correct use of tools and fabric, plus skills such as webbing, and stuffing. The course is aimed at beginners or someone who would like to develop their upholstery skills.

What do I need to bring with me? Any additional costs?

The Course includes the use of all the upholstery tools required to reupholster your project.

You will be provided with a starter kit of material at a cost of £15.00 payable to the tutor; additional materials can also be purchased on the day. You will also need to bring your chair or stool and top fabric. If you do not have a chair or fabric the tutor can supply them for you at additional fee.

During the course you will learn:

-The basic principles of traditional/Modern upholstery depending on what furniture you work on; webbing, stuffing, re-covering.

-You will learn about upholstery tools and sundries.

-Measuring up and cutting out of fabric

The tutor will discuss the course content with the class and may make some adjustments on the needs of the group. She will also try to accommodate individual requirements where possible.

Access and facilities:

Most of the Brewery is accessible for those who consider themselves to have a disability. There is a lift to all floors within the main building and adapted toilets.
