Printing Special: Tetra Pak Drypoint | Sat 11 Nov | 12-4pm | £35 | 18+ yrs | Tutor Helena McGregor | Studio 3, Print Room & Garden
This workshop explores cutting, scratching, and collaging Tetra Paks and other recycled packaging, to create original printing plates and limited edition prints on a versatile material. If you are interested in making more environmentally friendly artwork, this is a great way to recycle your milk and juice cartons!
What will the class cover and how will it be taught?
Initially, the workshop will explore the qualities of the Tetra Pak and what textures and marks this will bring to the print. Participants will then investigate different mark-making methods, such as cutting, scoring, and peeling into the layers of foil, plastic, and card. You will create your own design, learn how to ink and hand burnish your plate, explore colour mixing, and then learn how to use the printing press to create your prints.
Who is it suitable for?
Whether you have never done printmaking before or you are an experienced printmaker who wants to explore an alternative technique, all are welcome.
What do I need to bring?
Please bring an apron and/or wear clothes you do not mind getting messy. Bring your glasses, if you need them.
You may wish to bring your own images to work from, please note black and white or colour printouts are ideal. There will be a range of reference materials available to use supplied by the tutor.
Are there any additional costs?
All materials and equipment are included in the price.
