Introduction to Stained and Fused Glass is a 4-hour workshop with an expert glass artist in which participants will learn the skills required to make a stunning stained glass window, and other beautiful 3D objects and decorations out of kiln-formed glass.
What will the course cover and how will it be taught?
At an introductory level, participants will learn how to design a stained glass panel, cut glass safely, lead their pieces into a panel, solder joints, assemble glass using copper foil, and paint glass using silver stain and enamels.
This is workshop is suitable for complete beginners, as well as those with experience, who wish to improve their skills and learn the art of stained glass.
Are there any additional costs?
Boards and all other tools and materials to complete a practice panel will be provided. Other small material costs vary depending on the size of the design and the type of glass used and will be confirmed at the time of booking.
Please wear closed shoes, sandals are not permitted. Safety goggles and gloves are recommended to ensure your safety when using glass.
About the tutor
Sarah trained at Vetrate Artistiche Toscana in Siena 1994-1995. She had a stained glass studio in London for several years before setting up business in Kendal. She developed a specialist range of Fused Glass during this time, Sarah Bibet Fused Glass and sells online and to local shops. Sarah has been teaching her skills to classes for 28 years.
