Once again Kendal hosts the prestigious Christmas Craft market at the Brewery Arts Centre over the weekend of 29th Nov to 1st Dec 2019. Organiser and artist Jan Huntley Peace emphasises that the Craft Market Kendal is much more than an art and craft fair.

‘We work hard to provide something special’ says Jan ‘and especially this year having an extra exhibiting space, the fabulous Warehouse Gallery and an Artisan festive food market in the Brewery garden. We are so excited at being able to bring new artists and craftspeople to Kendal. Exhibitors are selected for their high levels of expertise in a particular medium or craft. Whilst we welcome back regulars such as Jamie Barnes, and Iain Childs its fantastic to introduce ceramicists Carolyn Marr and Catriona Archibald for the first time as well as ‘Leaf ’Deborah Dawn, who creates unique botanical eco prints onto silk and wool-producing the most beautiful wraps , scarves and wall hangings.

This annual showcase of everything that is outstanding about Cumbrian art and crafts will run over three days and will provide the opportunity to buy high-quality Christmas gifts at affordable prices for those special people.

Jan, who produces beautiful jewellery and delicate porcelain inspired by vintage lace and birds, has worked with Zandra Rhodes, David and Elizabeth Emmanual and Norman Hartnell and is no stranger to local art events.

‘I feel strongly about the strength of art and craft in Cumbria and feel privileged to be able to bring so many talented professionals and especially so many for the first time, together at a single event, providing unique, beautiful and designer-made for gifts especially in the run-up to Christmas.’ says Jan. ‘Meeting and talking with the artists themselves is really special and Craft Market Kendal caters for all tastes and interests. Featuring are Morag Macpherson with her limited edition textiles and artwear, Kim Tillyer who uses cyanotype printing to create bespoke paper lampshades and textile design and Sophie Martin’s quirky illustrations of the local landscape. We will also as usual have some artists demonstrating their skills.

Craft Market Kendal is an outstanding annual event spread over three days in this fantastic venue hosting amazing talented artisans producing art, craft, food and drink.
