Karen Featherstone will deliver this one-off, informal session on writing plots for novels and screenplays. There are some similarities between the two, in particular, the thought given to narratives with more than one storyline.
This workshop will cover how to think up multiple subplots and weave them together, where to start, and how to avoid getting tied in knots.
What will the class cover and how will it be taught?
Working with Karen Featherstone, this advanced plotting workshop aims to give writers the confidence required when plotting, and streamlining the process of completing a piece of writing.
Who is it suitable for?
This session is suitable for all writers with an interest in building stories and has been developed for exploring writers, either as a profession or a hobby Our expert tutor will support each writer in the group in developing their plots and storylines.
What do I need to bring?
Please bring your own laptop or notepad and pen.
About the tutor
Karen Featherstone is an experienced and working Screenwriter and is part of the team of readers who write reports on screenplays for the BBC. Fresh from the BBC Writers’ Access Group, she is a commissioned freelance episode writer for the indie production company, Mackinnon and Saunders. She also has experience in teaching Screenwriting courses at Brewery Arts and elsewhere. As a writing tutor, Karen has designed and delivered dramatic writing masterclasses to disabled, D-deaf and neurodivergent writers for Theatre by the Lake in Keswick, with an emphasis on encouraging beginner writers and helping to build playfulness and confidence.
