Winter Walk & Draw with Jess Emsley | Sat 9 Dec | 2-5pm | £30 (includes a warm drink) | 18+ yrs | Tutor Jess Emsley | Garden, Kendal & Studio 2
During this Festive Winter Walk & Draw workshop, participants will explore areas local to Brewery Arts in Kendal and will take in the festive lights, with local artist Jess Emsley. This session has a focus on sensory and observational drawing.
You are invited to tune into different senses on the walk and produce drawings in response to your experiences, exploring different drawing and mark-making techniques, for example, recording sounds or taking texture rubbings. The walk will take in different sites in Kendal and will pause to take inspiration from the Christmas lights and displays in town.
Following the walk, the group will refine and complete their drawings in Studio 2 at Brewery Arts over a warm drink.
What will the workshop cover and how will it be taught?
The workshop will include a mix of studio work and collecting inspiration from walking outdoors. The walk will take place at the beginning of the session and will involve gathering sketches, photos and materials to develop your piece in the studio space at Brewery Arts.
The walk will be under 3km and will be taken at a generally slow, leisurely pace. If you have any questions or concerns about the walk itself and the fitness levels required, or you would like to book as a family or group of friends, please get in touch with our Learning & Engagement Manager via email; claire.williams@breweryarts.co.uk
What do I need to bring with me?
Please be informed that when walking through wooded areas, the ground will be uneven underfoot. Please wear appropriate shoes and clothing for walking in all weathers.
Please bring water and your glasses, if you need them! You may also wish to bring a camera to collect images from the walk to use as inspiration.
Are there any additional costs?
All materials are provided but you may bring your own drawing equipment if you wish.
