November is upon us, and Brewery Arts is buzzing with creativity and excitement!

From live music and hands-on workshops to a brand-new seasonal menu in the Bar & Restaurant, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

This month’s line-up brings folk favourites like Steve Knightley & The Winter Yards Band, Blazin’ Fiddles, John Smith, and Eliza Carthy & Jon Boden’s Wassail – alongside fresh, experimental sounds from Dub Princess & Hotsteppas and Bill Ryder-Jones. Our Creative Learning season is packed with inspiring sessions for all ages, and the Kendal Mountain Festival’s ‘A Thousand Words’ exhibition (from 4 November) celebrates the beauty of mountain photography, past and present.

Dub Princess & Hotsteppas

This powerful collaboration releases bold new tracks that blend boundary-pushing sound with conscious messaging. Their new album is an exploration of roots and future sounds.

Steve Knightley & The Winter Yards Band

Steve Knightley continues to push boundaries and evolve as one of the most revered figures in folk music. Together, these four musicians will bring the intricate sounds and rich textures of the album Winter Yards to life.

John Smith

Pioneer of British folk guitar, John Smith brings his soulful and intimate exploration of emotional, Americana-influenced atmospherics to the stage.

Eliza Carthy & Jon Boden’s Wassail

Boden and Carthy reunite for a wassail – bringing to life ancient English Christmas songs and tales to brighten the darkest days before Christmas.

Blazin’ Fiddles

Take the finest exponents of their native Scottish fiddle styles, the finest backing in folk music, and some of the Highlands and Islands’ famed warmth and craic… Distilled over 25 years, and you get Blazin’ Fiddles!

Bill Ryder-Jones

29 November | 7.30pm | £25 | Extended Theatre

Hailing from the Wirral, Bill is a musical polymath with a decades-long career as a producer, multi-instrumentalist, composer, and singer/songwriter with several acclaimed solo records to his credit. He will play a special duo set accompanied by cellist Evelyn Halls a.k.a Pet Snake.

Suzi Ruffell: The Juggle

Our Creative Learning programme is bursting with inspiring workshops and courses for all ages and abilities. Whether you’re drawn to creative writing, photography, dance, theatre, or film, our expert tutors are here to spark your imagination and help you develop your skills.

Upcoming workshops include Mono Printing, Introduction to Watercolours and Lino Cut Christmas Cards – perfect for getting creative this season.

Each week, little ones can join in too, with fun and engaging sessions like Mini Makers for messy play and drawing, or Mini Movers for giggles and dancing.

Step into stories from around the world this month at Brewery Arts. MINT on Tour: Killing the Violet shines a light on women-led Chinese cinema, bringing bold, award-winning tales from Asia to Northern England. The French Film Festival continues the journey with Love Affair(s) – a tender portrait of modern romance and the richness of French-language cinema.

And for lovers of classic film, Too Much: Melodrama on Screen celebrates the golden age of emotion with Brief Encounter (80th Anniversary + Q&A with Carnforth Station Heritage Centre) and Letter from an Unknown Woman.

As the evenings draw in, our Bar & Restaurant welcomes you with a new Seasonal Menu that celebrates the best of the Lakes. Every dish highlights local produce – from hearty sharing plates and comforting bakes to vibrant plant-based and gluten-free options.

Pair your meal with a Lake District craft beer, a seasonal cocktail, or one of our handpicked wines. With ever-changing specials and a warm, relaxed atmosphere, it’s the perfect place to gather, dine, and unwind this November.
