What’s Happening in Creative Learning?

The season is well underway, and we have lots to share with you from our Creative Learning team…

Mature Movers

Our Mature Movers are enjoying their classes, moving together and exploring different styles.

In the first half-term, they were invited to perform in Dance City’s INSPIRE Platform in Newcastle. The INSPIRE platform is a celebration of dance and ageing, which showcases 55+ community dance across the region. Since half-term, the class have been looking at line dancing and disco-inspired routines.

Experience it for yourself here.

Get Moving

We only have two sessions left of our Get Moving classes, where the dance artists will be Lucy Nicholson and Paige Douglas. These are fun classes that you can dip in and out of, encouraging connection with your body and the joy of movement.

About the tutors

Lucy Nicholson is a professional dance and movement artist, who specialises in bodily awareness, creative practice and movement direction.

In Lucy’s friendly and inclusive classes, she uses a system called LMBS that supports bodily awareness, and finding wholeness and efficiency, as well as discovering new ways to move.

Paige Douglas delivers contemporary dance and creative sessions within the community, and her style is grounded in contemporary technique with ballet influences. In Paige’s classes, there will be contemporary techniques and creative tasks with opportunities to connect with each other in the space.

Mini Movies

In these sessions, watch a family-friendly film and indulge your creativity in activities such as paper collages, 3D rockets and mark-making activities inspired by the film.

Mini Art Explorers & Art Explorers

The little ones in our classes have been unleashing their creativity these past few weeks, making all kinds of fun and interesting pieces of work. In the classes, you can expect to use a range of materials, and play-based mark making and creating.

Artseen Advanced

Our recent Artseen Advanced class created these fantastic tetrapak etchings, with pieces varying from jellyfish to leaves.

In the classes, young artists can develop their portfolios, experiment with techniques and use the specialist facilities we have at Brewery Arts.

We still have a few Artseen Advanced Classes coming up here!

Paper Cut Flower Garlands

In this workshop you will work with Paper Cut Artist Amy Williams to create your very own Flower Garland, Amy has been working with Brewery Arts for several years leading our Art Seen and Makers Classes for young people – her new adult paper classes are a welcome addition to our programme!
