Autumn Season At Brewery Arts

Published on 19th August 2025

We are turning up the heat with a fresh new season packed full of creativity, culture and unforgettable moments. Whether you’re a live music lover, a cinema-goer, a workshop regular, or just looking for something new, our autumn programme has something just for you.

We’re especially proud to bring back our Jazz Club, featuring the finest jazz musicians in the transformed, cabaret-style Malt Room. Expect intimate lighting, outstanding music, and delicious food and drink served straight to your table. Don’t miss Will James (18 Sept) and Eleanor Colee (11 Dec) – two rising stars of the UK jazz scene.

“I’ve always had a deep love for jazz, so introducing new jazz clubs felt like a natural step – especially to give emerging artists a stage of their own. This season’s programme blends jazz with the rich sounds of folk, indie, country and reggae, creating a space where fresh talent and diverse genres can truly shine.” Charlotte Tasker, Programme Manager

Live music remains at the heart of what we do. This season welcomes legendary vocalist Horse, Gaelic star Kim Carnie, and trailblazing folk outfit Breabach. Plus, look out for alt-rock innovators Hello Cosmos, the irresistible groove of MY BABY, and the electric energy of Dub Princess & Hotsteppas.

For fans of theatre and spoken word, we are thrilled to bring you a special Verbalise event with poet Rose Condo, the hilarious Cally Beaton, horror-comedy legend Garth Marenghi, and the much-anticipated Poetry Slam-bria. And if poetry’s your thing, you’re not alone – Hollie McNish’s show sold out so quickly, we’ve added a special matinee performance just for all you poetry lovers.

Over in the Cinema, alongside the latest blockbusters, you’ll find something a little different. There’s Woman Grows Jeans followed by a Q&A with sustainability champion Justine Aldersey-Williams, a rare screening of Battleship Potemkin with a Pet Shop Boys score, and Breakaway Femmes, a tribute to cycling’s forgotten heroes. Plus, we’re bringing back classics through Cinema Rewind, adding festive favourites in December.

Christmas at Brewery Arts wouldn’t be complete without a show for the whole family. This year, enjoy a festive retelling of the classic Three Little Pigs by Stuff and Nonsense – a lively mix of high-energy storytelling, puppetry, and music that’s sure to delight audiences of all ages.

If you’re looking to try something new, check out our Creative Learning programme. From songwriting and creative writing to seasonal craft workshops, we’re offering something for every age and ability. Classes are a great way to meet new people, have fun and tap into your creative side.

We’re also celebrating the visual arts with a dynamic new series of exhibitions in our gallery spaces. This season, don’t miss Wool Is My Bread — a visual documentation of Kendal over 15 years — and A Thousand Words, a Kendal Mountain Festival exhibition celebrating mountain photography. Entry is free – just drop in and be inspired.

And of course, there’s always a warm welcome in our Bar & Restaurant, where local ingredients shine in every dish. Whether you’re enjoying a pre-show cocktail, a slow lunch with friends or a quick coffee between workshops, our spaces are made for gathering, relaxing and enjoying good food.

We can’t wait to see you this season. Your visit helps keep the arts alive in Kendal and supports our mission to make creativity accessible to everyone.
