Launch of Antony Christie’s new book: Conjuring a Ghost Road | With guest readers Katie Hale and Richard Smith and music and songs by The Demix
Since the 1970s Antony Christie has divided his time his time between a farmhouse in the South Tyne Valley and a renovated one-room school in Grey County in Ontario into which he and his family moved 50 years ago. His poetry has been published in England, Ireland and Canada in magazines, anthologies, three chapbooks and three full collections. He has read his work in co-ops, bookstores, village halls, libraries, a farmers’ market, and at local and international festivals, including StAnza, the last Collingwood Wordstock and the Kendal Poetry Festival. His latest collection, Conjuring a Ghost Road, was published in Ontario late last year. As it follows the seasons it often focuses on the flora and fauna of the new country as it attempts to recapture the struggles of the early European settlers, including his own relatives from the Irish Midlands and explore his own experiences in Grey County as a mid-twentieth century immigrant.
