Get fit, feel amazing, and express yourself!

Get Moving is an open dance class for adults of all abilities. It will explore movement, improvisation, and connection with the body in a fun and supportive atmosphere.

Not only is dancing a fun activity, but it can also have many health and wellness benefits, promote creativity and give your self-confidence a boost.

Through working with different Dance Artists/Practitioners you’ll have the chance to develop technique and learn phrases of movement. There will be opportunities for progressions and regressions to suit your body and dance experience. Plus opportunities to throw yourself into improvisation, and create your own movement!

Important information

There are no sessions during 26 – 30 May

What do I need to bring with me?

Please come ready to dance in comfortable clothes that you can move in, long hair should be tied back and jewellery removed. Bring your own water in a bottle.

About the tutors

Zoë Leigh Gadd is a dance theatre practitioner and producer with an extensive background in higher education, curriculum design & lecturing in a broad range of institutions across the UK. Driven by imagery Zoë’s approach is interdisciplinary, working from an intuitive, often sensory instinct in a studio context. Zoë founded Dance Ahead in 2008, delivering creative projects, and work that is often site responsive and immersive, exploring audience reception and devising processes.

Zoë’s classes:

A chance to connect with our bodies internally, externally, individually and collectively. Drawing from an eclectic range of approaches to contemporary dance, improvisation and theatre, along with the people in the room, the sessions aim to inspire curiosity and encourage freedom of expression. 

Emily Davies is a previous Brewery Youth Dance member and has been delivering sessions at The Brewery as well as other settings, since gaining her Dance degree in 2016. She enjoys sharing her love of dance with those she teaches. Emily’s style of movement is grounded in contemporary technique, creative dance and connecting with people. Be that in the studio or with an audience.

Emily’s classes:

Expect a fun and expressive contemporary technique and creative class. Explore moving in a way that feels good to you, enjoying Dance as a way to uplift and enhance well-being.

Emily Davies

Ashleigh Hindley is a freelance dance artist based in the Lancashire and Cumbria district. She graduated in dance, performance and teaching at UCLAN in 2011 where soon after she started working alongside the Brewery Arts Centre as well as local primary schools, early years settings, performing arts schools and dance schools.

Ashleigh’s classes:

Expect a fun dance class with technique and creativity, exploring a variety of dance styles and engaging our bodies to move through the space.

Lucy Nicholson is a professional dance and movement artist specialising in bodily awareness, creative practice, facilitation and movement direction. As well as her freelance practice, Lucy is a senior lecturer on the BA Hons Dance course at UCLan. She is passionate about the power of positive and responsive facilitation and the transformative nature of dance & movement in participatory settings.

Lucy’s classes:

Inclusive, friendly and fun, using a system called LBMS that supports bodily awareness, finding wholeness and efficiency as well as discovering new ways to move and make.

Lucy Nicholson

Paige Douglas graduated from the University of Central Lancashire with a BA Hons in Dance Performance and Teaching in 2022, she now delivers contemporary and creative dance sessions within the local community. Paige’s movement style is grounded in contemporary technique with influence from her ballet training. Through assisting and delivering on various projects with LPM Dance and working with UCLan Dance, she has recognised the impact dance has on our well-being. She aims to create a safe and supportive environment for everyone to learn.

Paige’s classes:

The classes will include contemporary techniques and creative tasks with opportunities throughout to connect to each other in the space.

Anna Olejnicki began her professional career working as a dancer and choreographer for fashion shows and commercial events. She started working as a dance tutor before founding Hype Dance Company Limited, a dance education company in Sheffield, in 2004. Her work has taken her across the UK, and overseas, including regular work with Olivier/Tony nominee Jennifer Weber (USA), Renegade Dance Theatre (Germany), and The Royal Ballet School here in UK. She is a festival adjudicator for The British and International Federation of Festivals (BIFF) the Theatre Dance Council International (TDCI) and Miss Dance.

Anna’s classes:

Join Anna to discover ballet in a creative way. If you’ve always wanted to try classical dance then now’s your chance. No need for ballet shoes just enthusiasm!
