(Circle Dreams Around) The Terrible, Terrible Past

Theatre |
23rd February 2023 – 24th February 2023

23 & 24 Feb | Starts 7pm | Tickets £7 | Conc. £6 | Theatre | Age Guidance 14+

Performed by Brewery Youth Theatre as part of National Theatre Connections. Written by Simon Longman.

(Circle Dreams Around) The Terrible, Terrible Past portrays how it feels to be young in the fields and towns which are far away from where anything happens; a play about the expectations of life, and the circularity of human existence.

Someone has a recurring dream. It’s a bit weird. And the dream feels like a circle going around, and around, and back to the start again.

They dream about the past, mainly, a past that they don’t belong to but it wants to belong to them. It’s forcing its way inside so that their future looks like the past. See? It’s a bit weird. It always starts with someone selling someone some crabs, and it gets progressively surreal from there… And there doesn’t seem to be any way out.
