MINT: CFF Characters Disappearing 人物消失

MINT Chinese Film Festival
Saturday 7th March 2026

New York City, 1971. Characters Disappearing Transposes an elliptical, intertwining narrative structure into a historical context informed by the Asian American Movement. Though the film may be set in 1971, it reflects a world that exists in an era of its own autonomous design – neither then nor now, yet suggestive of both. The political, spiritual, and corporeal agendas of Mei, Chris and Leonard intersect within a melancholic vision of the Asian American Movement. Characters Disappearing is a portrait of Chinatown rarely seen, where bursts of unexplained violence and spectral figures co-exist with the promise, and fragility, of multi-ethnic solidarities.
