Programme Strand: C-FILMS IN FOCUS
Curators’ notes: The fragile “Bunnylovr” appears in the livestream as a priced gift. Through writing, directing, and performing her own role, Chinese American filmmaker Katarina Zhu peels away the “cute and soft” persona of the female streamer. Shot with an aggressive, visceral camera style, the film reveals Rebecca, a young woman navigating the ruins of a fractured family and the debris of desire, holding on to a faint, hard-won impulse to feel love, survival, and selfhood through the body itself.
