Wayne Holloway-Smith’s first full-length collection Alarum (Bloodaxe, 2017) veers between hilarity and tragedy, with real inventiveness and adventure. It is a vital and necessary exploration of masculinity and the working class. Dean Parkin is a ‘natural born storyteller’ (The Scotsman) and is well-known for engaging performances of his work.
