5 June – Nonunonu

Nonunonu, Manchester’s nu-jazz fusion outfit, are our first Jazz Club performers! They emerged onto the scene in 2019 with an especially captivating blend of intricate compositions and electrifying improvisation. Their live shows are a whirlwind of intensity and dynamism, sure to leave you spellbound.

They’ve carved their path in the evolving jazz scene: with two UK tours, slots at prestigious festivals like Manchester Jazz and International Festivals, and supporting the likes of Jasmine Myra, Secret Night Gang and Xhosa Cole.

Beyond live shows, Nonunonu firstly released their debut studio album, “nunununu” on 9 August 2024. Building on the successes of their EP “Laundry Day” and live energy captured on “Right + Wrung”,”nunununu” promises to showcase the talents of some of the North’s finest jazz musicians.

This event is part of our Summer Sounds Season: Bringing you the hottest music from around the world from Afro-Chilean big bands to US indie-pop sensations, celtic folk, ska and modernist jazz. Find out more about here

18 September – Will James

Will James is an exciting talent on the UK music scene effortlessly melting blues, jazz, soul music into an innovative sound capturing the attention of legendary producer John Wooler ( 5x Grammy Winner, John Lee Hooker, Van Morrison). “He is creating inspired collections of modern blues” Blues In Britain Magazine

Will created quite a stir in the scene with the release of his first record, “The Age Of Fear”, back in 2020. Shortly after its release, he was invited by John Wooler to record his next record “Sundancer” over in North Hollywood California. Sundancer went to No.1 on the USA Soul Blues Album Charts 2023 and received great critical acclaim from many blues magazines.

It is a rare sight to find an artist who is a true triple threat. A brilliant guitar player, a vocal tone that has been praised as timeless and wonderful emotive songs, he really is a true UK treasure.

11 December – Eleanor Colee

Eleanor Colee is a saxophonist and composer based in Glasgow. Eleanor is currently completing their masters in Jazz at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Originally from the North West of England. Eleanor’s music is shaped by the vibrant and diverse sounds of both Manchester and Glasgow. She is known for blending contemporary and spiritual jazz with folk-inspired elements. Her writing is an introspective exploration from her personal experiences and challenges, whilst also taking inspiration from the likes of Pharoah Sanders and Nubya Garcia.

Eleanor is currently touring with Caoilfhionn Rose on her 2024/25 UK and European tour and has collaborated with an array of musicians from the UK scene including Rory A. Green and Rumbi Tauro. Eleanor is now excited to be performing her new and original material with their incredibly talented band.
