Tutor Alex Jakob-Whitworth | Fee £63 | 1 session
Our response to landscape is usually personal and very much to do with how we experience it. In this workshop we will explore ideas and techniques to represent what we see on our walks, and how we recall the landscape.
Creative and expressive methods will be demonstrated and taught; showing you imaginative ways of responding to the landscape using a mixture of pastel, charcoal, and ink together with paint.
What will the course or workshop cover and how will it be taught?
The workshop will cover ways of interpreting the landscape, thinking about how we use colour, tone, light and composition to create an expressive response.
We will start with small samples and experiments, using a variety of materials; mainly underlaying with paint and then adding inks and pastels and other drawn media.
We will move toward developing a “final” piece as the day goes by. There will be plenty of one-to-one, and we will finish with a small discussion exhibition of everyone’s work.
By the end of the workshop you will have been introduced to the notion of playful experimentation, and how this can enthuse your artistic practice.
