Few luminaries shine as brightly as Cara Dillon. She remains a towering figure in Irish music, consistently lauded as one of the folk genre’s finest interpreters on the global stage. For nearly 30 years, she has enchanted audiences with her stunning, emotive voice. During that time she has earned a slew of prestigious awards and accolades along the way. She continues to honour her rich cultural heritage with a deep connection that’s palpable in every single performance. With every note and word sung with a passion and confidence earned through a life of experience singing traditional songs.
Her remarkable career consistently places her home and culture at the heart of her music. It began with her singing in groups like Óige and De Dannan in her teens. She signed to Warners and the legendary indie label Rough Trade Records. She also provided the title track for a Disney film and even saw three songs feature in Derry Girls. All of this has led to superstars such as Ed Sheeran, Ellie Goulding, and Sam Smith citing her as an influence.
Cara’s latest album ‘Coming Home’
Is a profound exploration of identity and emotion and has become a seminal work since its release in March 2024. A stunning blend of song and spoken word, it is inspired by her deep personal connection to the land, culture, and people of her native County Derry.
This acclaimed live production sees Cara interweave her highly emotive new material with a carefully curated selection of her beloved classics. Cara has three UK/Irish ‘Coming Home’ tours already under her belt. These included celebrated sold-out performances at The Grand Opera House – Belfast, The Guildhall – Derry and Kings Place – London. This breathtaking album has been shortlisted for the NI Music Prize, a beautiful accompanying book, and countless deeply affected audiences — the response has been simply overwhelming.
