The Brewery Poets October Reading features three fabulous poets plus two guest Dove Cottage Young Poets.
Carole Coates has published six collections of poetry and two pamphlets. She has been placed in many competitions, winning first prize in the Nottingham Open Competition and second prize in the Mslexia Competition, regularly published in journals, magazines and anthologies, such as the Forward Book of Poetry.
Carol Ann Duffy has said of Carole’s new collection, Dead Letters, “Coates is a philosopher as much as a poet, building her letters to the dead into a subtle meditation on body and soul. This is a quietly heroic project where death, gracefully, is not permitted the last word.”
Kerry Darbishire was Poet in Residence at Rydal Mount in August, has won many competitions, and her poems appear widely in anthologies and magazines. She has published two pamphlets and three full collections, the most recent is Jardiniѐre published by Hedgehog Press in June 2022, and shortlisted for the Lakeland Book Awards 2023. Her new pamphlet which co-won the Hedgehog Competition this summer will be published in 2024.
Robert Ford has lived by Morecambe Bay for the last three years. His poems have been published by magazines in the UK and elsewhere.
