Young people in Kendal are being offered the chance to explore their creativity and develop new skills through Brewery Youth Music (BYM), a free 10-week programme in digital music production and DJ fundamentals.
Delivered by Brewery Arts in partnership with Horizon Studios, a Barrow-in-Furness-based company specialising in inclusive music technology training and mentoring opportunities for young people, the programme is designed to inspire confidence, unlock potential, and introduce participants to real-world creative pathways.
“Horizon Studios aims to demonstrate that it is possible to pursue your dreams, to aspire to achieve, to take risks, to push yourself to new heights and attain individual successes.”

Running on Tuesdays from 4.30pm to 6pm between 28 April to 7 July, sessions will take place at Brewery Arts in Kendal and will provide hands-on experience using industry-standard equipment and software.
Throughout this hands-on programme, participants will learn how to create their own music and explore beat making, rhythm programming, recording techniques, and track arrangement. Young people will also discover the fundamentals of DJing, including mixing, beatmatching, tempo control and building a set. The programme focuses on building confidence and performance skills, giving young people a supportive space to express themselves creatively.
BYM is particularly aimed at young people aged 11–16 who may face barriers to accessing creative opportunities. This includes those eligible for Pupil Premium, young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), and those who may be at risk of involvement in the youth justice system. However, any young person with a passion for music and a desire to develop their skills is encouraged to get involved.
The deadline to register is 26 April, and places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Please register your interest here.
