One of the most influential of the early British progressive rock bands, Colosseum fuse an adventurous approach to rock with strong jazz and blues influences and classical keyboard accents. Anyone drawing a classic rock family tree would find their branches reaching all over the place!

Formed in early 1968 by drummer Jon Hiseman with tenor sax player Dick Heckstall-Smith, who had previously worked together in The Graham Bond Organisation (where Hiseman had replaced Ginger Baker) and subsequently John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers, during which time they played on the Bare Wires album. Childhood friend Dave Greenslade and bass player Tony Reeves joined soon after. James Litherland (guitar/vocals) and Jim Roche (guitar) were soon replaced by Dave “Clem” Clempson, with Chris Farlowe taking over vocal duties and Mark Clarke on bass – all three have remained with the band ever since.

The double album “Colosseum Live” can certainly still be described as a jewel in the history of rock. In 2022, the new lineup started moving again, to the delight of numerous fans. Under the motto “The Return Of The Legend”, the originals from Live ’71 – Chris Farlowe, Clem Clempson & Mark Clarke were joined by Malcolm Mortimore (Gentle Giant) on Drums, Nick Steed on Organ/Keyboards and Kim Nishikawara on Saxophones, and the new line-up presents Colosseum classics such as “Lost Angeles” & the “Valentyne Suite” as well as songs from their highly-acclaimed new studio album “Restoration”.

Band Line-up:

Chris Farlowe – Vocals
Clem Clempson – Guitar/Vocals
Mark Clark – Bass/Vocals
Kim Nishikawara – Saxophones
Malcolm Moretimore – Drums
Nick Steed – Organ/Keryboards
