Creative Learning Programme Update 29 April 2020

Like all other arts venues across the country the Brewery has had to close its doors temporarily due to coronavirus. Creative learning is at the heart of everything we do, so it is really important to us at this time that we continue to support our community of tutors and students of all ages.

Most importantly we want to ensure we reach out to the children, young people and vulnerable adults who may be struggling at this uncertain time. We know that our classes provide a safe space to be creative, build confidence and connect with others, and disrupting these sessions has been difficult for many people, so we wanted to let you know about the progress with and plans for our learning programmes during the closure period.

Plans for Digital Learning

Since closing, we have continued to support our excellent team of freelance tutors who are at the heart of our community, making sure that fees are honoured for cancelled classes, and working closely to explore the potential of new online classes. We have also consulted our ticket holders and agreed refunds and credits, with some customers donating part or all of the ticket to the Brewery’s charitable work. Thank you to all of our customers for the understanding and generosity you have shown.

We have also taken some time since closing to look in detail at our current programme, assessing which classes and courses will adapt to an online forum and add value to our participants in this worrying time.

Some of our Brewery Youth Digital work is already underway and we are working to develop more in the weeks to come. We are thrilled with the responses from participants and parents so far:

“Thank you for this – my daughter is absolutely delighted and can’t wait to dance with you on the computer! ;-)” BYD Get Creative Participant’s Parent

“Thank you for being so thoughtful, and putting so much energy into the kids and helping them, and us, through this.” Creative Learning participant

We will continue to place our learning programme at the heart of what we do, ensuring we prioritise children, young people and the most vulnerable in our community. Please stay tuned to the website and social media in the coming weeks, as we continue to adapt our offer in response to our students.

Our work will continue to be informed by our aims and core values making our online experiences inspiring, respectful, participatory, nurturing and challenging.
