Brewery Poets Karen Lloyd (award-winning author of The Gathering Tide: A Journey Around the Edgelands of Morecambe Bay) and Maggie How will be reading with guest poet, National Poetry Prize winner, Martin Reed, plus music with the wonderful duo Demix.
 

Karen Lloyd is a writer of creative non-fiction and poetry based in Kendal. She graduated with distinction from the M.Litt at Stirling University where her tutor was Kathleen Jamie. She has written for The Guardian and is a regular contributor to The Guardian Country Diary. She has written features for a number of journals and magazines including Caught by the River, The Clearing, The Island Review, The Great Outdoors and Scotland Outdoors. She is a member of Kendal’s Brewery Poets. Karen’s poetry is most frequently a response to events in the natural world.

Maggie How was born in Sunderland but spent many years living Cumbria. She has recently re-located to Worcestershire. She graduated from Lancaster University in 2015 with a merit in an MA in Creative Writing and is currently studying for an MSC in Creative Writing for Therapeutic Purposes at the Metanoia Institute, London. In 2016 Maggie had three poems published in The North magazine and won third prize in the Settle Sessions Poetry Competition.  

Martin Reed was born in Somerset and now lives in Worcestershire. He has been widely published in magazines and his current collection is The Two-Coat Man (HappenStance). He won the National Poetry Prize in 1988.
