GORGES, GUNPOWDER AND TOPIARY

Aimed at/grading: Moderate (distance rather than height)

Duration/length: 4/5 hours, 10.5 miles full walk, 209 meters ascent.
 

Down the river Kent to Hawes Bridge with its limestone gorge, then Sedgewick and the gunpowder works by the Force. Through Levens Park to Levens Hall. Refreshments can be bought at the Hall. From there the walk returns to Kendal, along the opposite river bank where possible, but there is the possibility of public transport back from the Hall.
 

Meeting place Peace Garden, Abbot Hall Park

Meeting time 9.50 for 10.00 start.

Need Stout shoes/boots. Waterproof clothing, packed lunch and drinks

Dogs? Only on lead

Transport? Not required, unless participants want to return  from Levens Hall by public transport arranged by themselves.

Max number of people 16

Cost £1 + Own public transport back, if required, by bus by entrance to Levens Hall.
