Lakes International Comic Art Festival

Fri 13 - Sun 15 Oct 2017

It’s going to be an awesome festival!

This is our fifth festival year in the wonderful town of Kendal, Cumbria on the edge of the Lake District. From 13th to 15th October we’ll be celebrating the amazing world of comic artists, creators and writers. Welcome to comic heaven!

We have an incredible line-up planned for you this year. Our events programme will be announced in May but here’s a taster of what’s included...

Live drawing, exhibitions, comic trails, film, workshops, performance, master-classes, a free family zone and independent publishers. The events programme will be bursting with opportunities to get up close and personal with some of the leading comic artists and writers from across the world. We have comic artists joining us from Japan, the US, Canada, Australia, Finland, as well as European comic creators. This is also an amazing showcase for UK comic art which is really thriving. There really is something for everyone, whether you are a super hero fan, mad about Manga or just love seeing incredibly talented artists at work.

In the Family Zone we’ll have workshops, shows and activities aimed at all levels and ages, from pre-school to teens, from absolute beginners to experienced comics makers. Just bring energy and imagination!

Don’t miss the Windows Comic Art Trail as you wander around Kendal. All the artists involved, whether from local community groups or schools right through to professional artists, take their own approach to their individual shop and business windows.

The awesome Comics Clock Tower will be open Saturday and Sunday all day and full of independent creators, publishers and retailers, representing a wide range of comics from around the world. And it’s free to enter for the whole weekend.

And if that’s not enough, make sure you seek refreshment in our Nu-Earth styled bar at Ruskins with our festival beer, sporting a label designed by the one and only Dave Gibbons.
