Tutor Eric Pye | Fee £64 | 4 weeks | Footprint
Hone your camera skills and capture the beauty of the woodlands on the St Catherine’s estate near Windermere. For those with some basic knowledge of their camera who love being outdoors.
What will the course or workshop cover and how will it be taught?
The course will be mostly practical, with each lesson starting in the Footprint building before spending as much time in the beautiful woodland as possible. Instruction inside will be brief but informative and the outdoor element will be about applying these lessons to the best effect. We will discuss finding the ‘feel’ of a place, choice of subject matter needed to reflect this and the type of images (and how to create them) that will allow you to do just that.
The course is aimed at those with some basic knowledge of their camera and its controls, who would like to learn how to put this knowledge into action. If you can use aperture and shutter speed modes on your camera, even if you do so hesitantly, this course will build your confidence and give the opportunity to put together a small portfolio on a given theme.
What do I need to bring with me?
Equipment – Digital camera, instruction booklet, memory card, tripod (if possible)
Clothing – Dress for the weather and wear sturdy footwear for being outdoors in a woodland environment.
Please bring a pen, notebook and your glasses, if you need them.
Are there any additional costs?
None
About the tutor
Eric is a photographer who likes to combine his love of the outdoors with a desire to produce something creative. He likes to try and convey something about the places in his images and does this with traditional landscape shots as well as more abstract ideas using camera movement and multiple exposures. As well as creating his own images, Eric now puts his years as a school teacher to good use teaching photography to groups, individuals and here at the Brewery. You can find out more about him and his work at www.ericpyephotography.co.uk or on Facebook as Eric Pye Photography.
