Wim Wenders’ 1987 classic Wings of Desire is a hauntingly beautiful exploration of humanity and the desires that connect us to people, places and times. Set in the 1980s before the fall of the Berlin Wall, the film follows Bruno Ganz’s weary angel Damiel, who moves invisible through the city, listening to its inhabitants' innermost thoughts and desires. However, when he falls in love with lonely trapeze artist Marion (Solveig Donmartin), he begins to contemplate a gesture of love that will transform his whole existence.
