Ou Explore Willow Spiral Structures For Your Garden workshop is just in time for spring. Make a willow tipi garden structure, and learn about other ways to use willow in the garden. Willow tipis are beautiful and useful to support roses or climbing annuals, beans etc.
What will the workshop cover and how will it be taught?
This workshop will teach some traditional principles of weaving, especially willow and hedgerow weaving. There will also be a section where students can get advice on how to use willow in their garden for in-situ hurdles, borders and other projects. Hannah can also give general information on suitable species to use, soaking and storage, and tips for successful weaving.
Who is it suitable for?
No previous experience is required so the workshop is suitable for beginners or those who have done weaving previously.
Full use of hands, shoulders and arms is important, also ideally be able to stand.
What do I need to bring?
You can bring your own sharp secateurs if wished. Pad and pen if you want to note down how-to, to replicate the project at home. Tea and coffee are provided but please bring a packed lunch.

About the tutor
Hannah Ehlert has successfully run creative coppice craft and weaving courses for the last 10 years. These include hazel wattle hurdles, English round baskets, Swedish style woodcarving, wood projects for children. During her 3 year- coppice worker apprenticeship she has trained in hazel and willow weaving with a variety of craftspeople. She has worked in schools as well as with adults. Her scope also includes family and adult Nature Awareness courses and works as a qualified Forest School Leader.
Her classes can bring people effortlessly closer and combine fun together with quiet, relaxing time through being deeply absorbed in your project and experiencing nature´s wonders hands-on. People who wish to contact Hannah with questions can do so through HannahsTreetimes@gmail.com
