Thu 18 Jun | 7.30pm
Four robust contemporary dance works choreographed by celebrated artists Kerry Nicholls, Theo Clinkard, Douglas Thorpe (Mad Dogs Dance Theatre) and Luca Silvestrini (Protein Dance).
VERVE promises a theatrical, highly physical performance by twelve dancers trained at some of the world’s leading conservatoires.
Nicholls pushes the dancers to their physical limits using a distinctive, fast and intricate movement language that results in an energetic full company work. Known for his dynamic, powerful and compelling dance theatre, Leeds-based artist, Thorpe creates his first work for the company. Clinkard, whose creations use beautiful, eloquent and expansive dance, works with VERVE after recent commissions in Wales, Ireland, Chile and New Zealand. Completing the programme is co-founder of Protein Dance, Silvestrini, with his sterling reputation for producing entertaining dance theatre that examines human relationships and everyday situations.
“A very talented cast…and the quality of the pieces in which they perform is consistently high.” Dance Europe
“Dancers were of an extremely high standard and should have no trouble securing jobs with professional contemporary dance companies.” Dancing Times
“The evening was eclectic and well balanced and the dancers looked strong as performers and as an ensemble. I’ll definitely keep an eye out for ‘ex-Verve’ dancers in the future and I look forward to Verve’s new edition next year.” Pedro Machado, Co-Artistic Director, Candoco Dance Company
