The Merc with the Mouth (Deadpool that is not Joe!) gets well-earned fresh exposure with this special screening introduced by Deadpool writer Joe Kelly on an exclusive visit to the UK.
Deadpool was Joe’s first monthly title for Marvel back in 1997 and was immediately acclaimed by fans and critics. When it was cited for cancellation, a write-in and internet campaign by fans led Marvel to reverse their decision. Twenty years later he and artist Ed McGuiness returned to the character with the new Spiderman/Deadpool team-up.
Based upon Marvel’s most unconventional superhero, Deadpool tells the original story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson who, after being subjected to a rogue experiment which leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humour, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
