Learn to sew and make garments using patterns that you will draft from your own body measurements. Have fun adding decoration, including applique and beading plus mixing and matching different fabrics.

What will the course or workshop cover and how will it be taught?

The tutor will bring along a project on the first session to get everyone started; you will then be encouraged to source fabric and trims to bring along to class.
You will learn by tutor demonstration and then by having a go yourself with the tutor always on hand to give help and advice.

Important Information
Please note there are no classes on the following dates:
Autumn term: 21 to 25 October; 11 to 17 November 2019
Spring term; week of 17 Feb 2020

What do I need to bring with me?

  •  If you have a sewing machine, please bring it along. There will be some sewing machines to use on request but if you are able please bring your own.
  • A basic sewing kit would be useful, scissors (two pairs, one for paper and one for fabric), needles and a variety of threads, pins, tape measure.
  • Please also bring along, 2H pencils and a ruler and/or set square for pattern cutting.

For the first session please bring along a 1m pieces of fabric. This could be a piece of calico, or simply an old sheet that could be used to make a ‘toile’ in order to check for fit. It does not need to be anything special!

Are there any additional costs?

You will need to purchase patterns and fabric as the course progresses, but will be told about this as we go along in plenty of time.
