Wed 23 Sep to Wed 21 Oct 2020 | 11am-1pm |£50 (5 weeks) or £12 per session PAYG | Tutor Jamie Barnes
Kendal is full of historic buildings packed with character which lend themselves to being drawn. Local artist-printmaker Jamie Barnes will lead you round his hometown to key sites of architectural interest ripe for sketching; and guide you in drawing them.
What will the sessions cover
Each session will start with a brief introduction, some tips and tricks, and a display of examples. The group will then walk to a particular area of Kendal and each choose a site to draw from. Jamie will give you guidance and tips on how to draw the buildings visible from each site. If you wish to add more depth and tone to your drawings, Jamie will guide you on how to use ink washes or brush markers to add depth, tone and perspective.
By the end of the session you will have made some outdoor architectural sketches in your sketchbook which are alive with interesting details and textural washes. The location for drawing will vary each week.
All sessions, including PAYG, must be booked in advanced.
