Creative Learning Silk Shading – Viola

Tutor Sara Dennis | 10.30am – 4.30pm | Tues 11 & Wed 12 June | £120

Learn how to master the beautiful technique of silk shading, starting from the basics we will work some samples before stitching a lovely printed viola.

What will the course or workshop cover and how will it be taught?
Using a printed watercolour taken from the Royal School of Needlework archives we will hand embroider a beautiful viola on cotton poplin. As the image is printed you can cover as much as you like in the week.

Silk shading is one of the most satisfying but difficult techniques to learn, so we will start from the beginning and do it right. Creating a naturalistic flower involves working with the contours of the petals in order to stitch a pleasing image, all the while keeping your thread smooth and gleaming.

All abilities are welcome.

What do I need to bring with me?
Your sewing kit if you have one, but everything you need will be provided

Are there any additional costs?
