RIDING THE UNDERGROUND-EMERSON/SHELTON

Festivals |
19th October 2013

Ruskinian scholar Kevin Jackson will be talking to two of the comic world’s wittiest comic artists, Hunt Emerson and Gilbert Shelton, about their work from the underground comix of the sixties to the present day.  It’s a chance to learn about the stories behind comics such as Shelton’s The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers as well as more recent work such as Emerson’s hilarious adaptations of The Rime of the Ancient Mariner and Dante’s Inferno.

“Manic energy….a nightmarish power…..dreadful puns” Raymond Briggs on Hunt Emerson

“He is truly one of the greatest and most sublimely funny talents that the comic medium has to offer” Alan Moore on Gilbert Shelton.
