Propellor are a 12-piece ensemble of soaring strings, ambient guitar, double percussion and otherworldly winds, directed by Kendal’s own Jack McNeill.
Flight is their latest large-scale production tracing the connections between music, birds, humans and the science in between. This is a collaboration with one of the UK’s leading authors on nature Mark Cocker and a host of incredible writers, artists and musicians.
Expect music that tells the stories of astounding bird migrations, how we listen and why it matters, electronic collaborations with artist Leafcutter John, live reactive visuals and spoken word alongside powerful contemporary dance.
Flight is the culmination of Brewery Arts Musician in Residence Jack McNeill’s creative residency.
The Flight Workshop is an opportunity to work with 3 members of Propellor to create recycled musical instruments inspired by bird and landscape ecology. The instruments made in the workshop will be part of the Flight performance on Saturday 1 October.
