10.00-11.00 Please Don’t Touch! Steven Appleby shows us around his mind.
BAC: Theatre

Let’s take a look inside Steven Appleby. What makes him tick… And is the ticking dangerous?

Guided by Steven himself, you’ll be perfectly safe as you poke about in his dark corners and prise open the drawers and cupboards where his obsessions live and all his ideas come from. You’ll discover the source of cartoon strips such as  Captain Star  (N.M.E., The Observer, Die Zeit & Nickelodeon),   Small Birds Singing  (The Times & a series of short stop-motion animated films), and   Loomus  (The Guardian). You’ll meet the characters and strangers who inhabit his stage show, Crocs In Frocks, his BBC Radio 4 series Steven Appleby’s Normal Life, and his numerous books, such as   Antmen Carry Away My Thoughts As Soon As I Think Them or Jim – The Nine Lives Of A Dysfunctional Cat.

Tick…
Perhaps there’ll even be time to dust off a few of his paintings and drawings for The Good Inn (by Black Francis and Josh Frank), before ending with a look at the ups and down of his current graphic novel project.
